Jeff council okays rate increases at community center, golf course

Users will pay more of the cost of operating the Greene County Community Center and the Jefferson Municipal Golf Course starting July 1.

The Jefferson city council at its Feb. 25 meeting raised rates at both city-owned facilities.

Membership fees at the Community Center will increase 10 percent across the board, with the exception of the family membership. That membership will increase 15 percent.

According to Jefferson city administrator Scott Peterson, membership rates have not increased since 2011.

Annual membership rate increases will be as follows: Family, from $320 to $368; Adult couple from $270 to $306.90; Adult single from $240 to $264; Senior (65 or older), from $191.10 to $210.10; Senior couple from $243 to $267.30; Youth (age 6-18) from $120 to $139.70; and young adult single (age 19-22) from $198 to $217.80.

Payments will continue to be taken annually, monthly by auto debit, or monthly by other payment method.

Matt Wetrich represents the city council on the park & recreation board. According to him, the rate adjustments are “definitely past due.”

The council also approved new, higher rates at the municipal golf course.

All memberships will increase by $50 for the 2025 season and by another $50 for the 2026 season. Membership rates for 2025 will be as follows: Young single, $350; Senior single, $375; Regular single, $400; Young/couple/family, $450; Senior couple, $550; Regular couple/family, $600; Junior membership, $175; and fulltime college students, $250.

Cart passes and cart storage fees will increase. Additionally, persons who don’t pay for to store their carts at the golf course will be charged a daily or annual trail fee. Daily green fees will increase to $18 for nine holes, adult; $14 for nine holes, junior/senior; $23 for 18 holes adult; and $19 for 18 holes, junior/senior. Peterson said he and golf course manager Joe Foote researched costs at other courses in the region and the local course will still be lower. Peterson added that new members, military veterans and first responders will receive a 20 percent discount.
